Following an initial sponsorship in 2017 and 2018, IDI is again offering its support to Démos, a project designed to raise awareness of classical music that has been coordinated by the Paris Philharmonic in three-year phases since it was launched in 2010. The development ambitions of Démos are to respond forcefully to major societal challenges, particularly those linked to cultural democratisation.

The Philharmonic only offers Démos in areas that are geographically or socially remote from cultural activities, with children who would not otherwise have hands-on access to classical music. Démos emphasises orchestral playing and has developed an innovative teaching approach to enable children to discover the classical repertoire. The children are supervised by youth workers, social workers and professional musicians. Initially 450 children in Paris aged 7 to 12 took part, then 800 children, from 2012 to 2015. Today, more than 5,000 children are involved across 50 orchestras.
